Hello George-and everyone else; Before I get to my questions,George, you might be interested in this. It comes under the small world catagory. You sound like you may have been around the pipe for awhile,so maybe these names will sound familiar. Some of my childhood friends in Lakefield were the Dorfmanns, Leo sr.,the geologist, and two sons,Leo jr. and Andre.Leo Sr. has donated a collection at the R.O.M. in Toronto that's really worth seeing. He had a house on Stoney Lake, north of Lakefield, which he sold to Rompin' Ronnie Hawkins ,after Leo Sr. had a bad stroke.Their kids all went to the private school in Lakefield together(the same school Prince Andrew went to in the mid 70's).Leo went to a nursing home in Montreal. He may have passed away by now,Idon't know. The word around Lakefield was that he had given each of his kids one million dollars on their 18th birthdays. I don't doubt it. Speaking of doubt (cool seiguey), Reg Dougt(sic) was another local. He made millions overnight after discovering uranium around the 2nd world war. After the war, uranium crashed and he lost most everything. At the time of the crash,he owned the biggest house in town, which he had to sell. The owner of the local I.G.A. lives there now,and the house still looks magnificent. I went to the public school with his grandson. Some of the kids in our school came from a town called Nephton, which was,of course, named for the Nephalene that was mined there. Well, the mine was closed in the 80's and the town, which was in the pit,was completely flooded over.It no longer exists. The town of Bancroft is nearby,as is Paudash, where Mr. Dougt may have discovered his uranium. I know the locals say the lake is radioactive. I'm off to Arizona mid April to search the Superstition Mountains for Jacob Waltz's Lost Dutchman Mine.Mostly though ,we just stop at Tortilla Flats for drinks and prickly pear ice cream. As for"The Research",as children,we never saw anyone go in or out,or any sign of any kind of activity at any time. I do remember a kid named Michael Doyle, who's father worked there, but who's family disappeared after a couple of months.Very X-files kind of stuff.Very hush- hush.Maybe thats the way they wanted it,or maybe they just all moved to Peterborough. Thought you might be interested in the area's colourful history,George.I hope some names are familiar to you.(someone should write a book!) Jason, are you still with me? I wanted to tell George that stuff, but couldn't find another forum for it. If altimira sold 770,000 shares last month, there couldn't have been too many others selling.I didn't keep track, but does anyone know how many shares sold in the last 30 days?If altimira hadn't sold, maybe we would have been up last month. Does anyone know if altimira has any more shares? If it was month end selling,I doubt it.Altimira hasn't been doing that well lately;so I'm not worried about what they think. Sorry to ramble on,but that snow is really coming down, everyone's asleep, and this stock has me excited. I'll be bidding .23 cents next week.Anyone interested? If I don't get it by 3.45P.M. on Tuesday,I'm bidding market, but not a penny more. night all; Stuart. |
