DAOU Systems shares off on analyst's note

NEW YORK, March 17 (Reuters) - DAOU Systems Inc shares fell as much as 29 percent Tuesday after Morgan Keegan
analyst Brad Whitt issued a note advising short-term caution on DAOU's shares, the company and analysts said.

DAOU shares stood off 5-3/4 at 18-5/8 in late-afternoon trading. Earlier, they touched 17-3/8.

Whitt said in the note he believes, based on conversations with DAOU's management, that DAOU's first-quarter may be
progressing slower than expected.

DAOU disagreed with the note.

''We're basically where we are normally in any given quarter,'' said Fred McGee, DAOU's chief financial officer.

He added, ''I think the difference is that in the past we were always talking about the future -- predicting, now we're not, now
we're waiting until things happen before we tell people about them. It could be a pick up there that's he (Whitt) is trying to
interpret or read into.''

DAOU makes and manages computer network systems for hospitals and other healthcare providers.

Whitt said in his report that DAOU's long-term prospects remain compelling.
