To All: I started following LGND in a limited way this year. I am aware that is anticipated to be one of the few profitable biotechs next year. As an investor in three other companies in the biotech sector(VICL, ISIP, TRIBY), I am aware that the sector is looking much better after a long slump (investment wise, not clinically). As a clinical systems analyst, I'm better able to follow healthcare and therapuetic issues than most investors.

I'm considering investing in :GND. I'm also in the process of writing a major post (or series) on Biotech as a sector, and some attractive companies in that sector in a thread called "The Rational Analyst". This thread is designed to somehow integrate technical analysis, fundimental analysis, the companie's business case, management, market
psychology & trends since they all effect investment decisions and results.

The analyst who started the thread recently asked participants for their single best investment ideas. Mine is actually a sector (biotech) rather than a company. Since he recently made a 30% one day gain in one of my recommendations, and has sought my input on other companies, I anticipate that this writeup will be seriously considered.

The reason I'm writing is to ask the thread participants to answer two questions, Why LGND? and why now? along with your rationalle. I've already done a small summary and inserted links from the LGND releases that have appeared in quote.yahoo.com as far back as September.

Your analysis and related links would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely, Scott H. Davis
