ats's heart valve is a superior product than the st jude medical valve which is the standard world market valve. the ats valve is superior because the sound of the valve is not audible, where as the st jude valve can be heard by some patients. I for one would not want to hear my heart clicking away with the st jude valve. Also the patients spouse can sometimes hear the st jude valve. The other advantage for the valve, is that the pivot area of the valve is not indented like other valves. In the other valves blood will clot in the indent, break away and cause strokes etc. The ats valve is more expensive, but worth it. The home run for this valve is the possiblity that patients will eventually need less blood thinner medication. If so all doctors will prefer the ats valve. extremely long ats
