Don't believe the rumors. Most of them won't be happen. My personal opinions (although I work for Lucent, but my level is too low to have any meaning): most LU executives still feel the bad taste of acquiring NCR (a mulit-billion loss experience). Yes, LU will acquire some companies, but most likely small, private companies. Although I also long on ASND, but I put no weight on the LU buy-out rumors. If LU really want to be a leader via merge activity, the best candidate is to merge with CSCO. A CSCO/LU combination will be a dream team of telecommunication equipment company. Actually I recently met with a CSCO high level personel. He also agreed with me this will be great for both companies. Unfortunately, the market cap of both companies are about the same: the biggest problem is who will be a boss... Julian
