Part of improving SI includes attracting new members. I have personally spent dozens of hours reading posts from visitors, and 95% of the people are excellent contributors. Perhaps 5% or so are succeeding in irritating people on some portion of the 3200 active threads. I would not characterize it as a widespread problem, and I disagree that the "average post" has suffered. The range of quality has expanded in both directions. But for every bad apple you point out to me, I can respond with 10 that are great contributors.

Please believe that we sympathize with your irritation. SI is a microcosm of society, and society has its misfits. I've experienced my share of disappointment in humanity over the last 3 years. There are some really bad people out there that do really bad things.

Once again, keep in mind this is a temporary "policy" and there is only 1 week to go. Visitors are limited to 3 posts per day.
