Kenith, <I just don't understand why the 3 kept on going. ..at least 2 of them were bad mouthing AMD even when it was at the cellar.> I think these guys are also trying to make money, all with slightly different reasons. They think that the microprocessor sector of stock market is a zero sum game. They think that if someone has decided to invest in this sector (due to obvious growth potential), he/she must decide between few major players - INTC, AMD, NSM, IDTI, Motorola/IBM...
It also seems obvious that they have a large position in Intel, historically. Therefore, in their minds, if they will continuously bad mouthing Intel competitiors in public, there are MORE chances that an illiterate newcomer, with superficial understanding, will join their church, and will more likely create some additional buying pressure. Therefore, they probably ARE making money out of their tactics.
A complementary part of their publicism is to provide an extremely loud cheerladding on the Intel thread, just to keep the participants at the highest level of hype, with the same reason - to shift the current balance of opinions/expectations. It is relatively easy to do because Intel (with their huge marketing money) is apparently orchesrtating all these enormous junk-press publications about yet-to-be-made products, technology acquisitions and "strategic" investments.
I think they see some reason to do all this. At least, it seems better than just sitting, watching tickers, and do nothing. "Make it so" is the shameless manifestation of this tactics. They are just doing their best to protect their investments (Paul), or help a bit in their speculation on short side (Yousef, Stoky). That simple. You have to filter them out.
I don't disagree that there are no problems with AMD. The product could be better, production ramp could be faster, pricing policy could be more flexible ... But again, all this is a subject of EXPECTATIONS. Actually, I even can think that these guys are doing a favor for the dynamics of AMD stock. They are lowering investor's expectations, and that may keep AMD price relatively stable even in the hardest period of their business.
So, take care,
