Satyr,

You make a good point here even though I am long CPQ and I have tried averaging down. I made a principle of my own to get out of a stock and stay away from it once it loses 10% of the value from my purchase price. However, I apparently lacked self discipline and so instead of getting out of CPQ after buying it @ 34+ and seeing it drop, I went ahead and played the averaging game and bought more @ 29+. Guess what? It went further south and I am still in it. There is something about stocks that brings financial recklessness to otherwise sane, well meaning individuals. Sooner or later, I will learn, but your point is well taken about the dangers of averaging down. That is what happened to me with the now defunct Gandalf. I think I will remember this post of yours and I hope others will too. It happens so much to so many so often. Thanks for your opinion.
