This discussion on EGRP vs. "internet stocks" is interesting. However, I don't regard EGRP as a pure internet stock, like Yahoo or other cos mentioned in previous messages. I see it as a brokerage company. The fact that trades are placed online is a side issue, (let's not forget that some people still place their orders over the phone). Most importantly: the pure internet stocks derive much of their revenue from advertising, which EGRP does not do.
On the other hand, if EGRP sold advertising space, lowered brokerage fees, and provided free, automatic real-time quotes, it would definitely earn that fifth star.
I personally hold EGRP shares but my account is with DLJDirect. No cash up front, and a great research service backed by the DLJ house.
