If you place an open order for Compaq at 17 3/4 it's likely to be filled some time in the future months. Just my hunch.

Intel has started a new program to provide complete high-end server backplanes to box makers. Soon, Bob & Mary's Computers (they make computers in their garage) will be able to offer state of the art Servers without the R&D overhead.

Compaq, Hewlett-Packard and IBM will continue to offer their own server designs while Dell and everyone else will offer Intel's. This means a increase in margins and volume for Intel, and reduced margins on server sales for everyone else. I think Compaq is going through tough times until they can demonstrate a new and successful business model.
