I have an increasing impression that ADSL gets more and more competition before it even makes it to widespread deployment. Paradynes alternative solution went much faster from the lab to commercial deployment at US West then ADSL. And now Nortels EDSL sounds like a much better solution for mass deployment of fast internet access due to the reduced risk of harmful interferences. And then of course we have pretty successful deployment of cable modems.

By now I am pretty happy that Texas Instrument converted the majority of my DSL shares into cash. And even at a time when my other favorite company (Ligand Pharma - LGND) was available for a very good price. I still have a few percent of my portfolio in PAIR, WSTL, ORCTF and AWRE. DSL still has a chance to be a profitable growth industry but I think I underestimated the risk when I began investing in this sector.
