Hi, As a cisco engineer, I have to take issue with the 'doesn't innovate' comments on the thread. Check the work groups in the IETF and the list of RFC's. We are active in all areas and probably lead in RFC's written or co-written (I haven't counted - but check on BGP, Multicast, PIM etc). Simply put we dominate the innovation of IP based technologies. The purchasing of R&D (via acquisitions etc) has been for technologies outside of this core competency John
