FYI, Firewire is "recommended" on the PC99 0.5 spec. Device Bay has been changed from "required" to "recommended". Still, the impact is highly questionable. What has USB done for you lately?
Upgrading I/O interfaces take time, and there is always an awkward transition period where old and new must coexist. One day, all your components will be PCI, USB, and Firewire. But next year, most computers will still have serial, parallel, ISA, IDE, keyboard, speaker, and mouse connectors, in addition to the newer interfaces.
BTW, have you seen the brand-building TV and magazine adverts for Seagate? Pathetic. I'd be surprised if any of these drove a single sale. |
