As with anything else, you need to know what you are doing. Did you know that Bulletin Board stocks are used a lot for money laundering? Business Weeks speculates that 1/2 of the trading done, $10 billion per year, is in chop stocks? The Canadian exchanges, have been reformed a lot over the years, especially the Vancouver Stock Exchange which traded only C$318 million in January 1998. Most of the bad guys I know have left and only do BB stocks now...I invite you to visit my web site, coming in April, where we tell it like it is. I am a professional trader on the Canadian exchanges, and it has treated me well over the years. I think a more appropriate saying would be to conduct rigorous due diligence prior to buying a stock tip or hype. Where ever there is opportunity, people will exploit it. It is up to buyers to ask questions. Personally I trade using charts only, so I never get to know much more than the symbol. It works very well.
