Gap Up Strategy:

The Gap up strategy works for just about anything. You look at the 1 or 5 minute chart (or the quote data)after about 10:45-11:00. You set a limit buy a few ticks higher than the high for that period. If you want to short, you would set that a few ticks below the low for the morning period.

If a stock screams open, it generally peaks within the first hour to 1.5 hours if its a trading equity (in other words the daytraders and scalpers doing buy and profit taking. If the run is sustainable for the day or two or three, then one's order will get filled if the price continues on up above the morning high.
