LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 23, 1998-- CyberGuard Corporation (NASDAQ:CYBG), a leading provider of network security and electronic commerce solutions, today announced it has opened an office in Japan to continue to expand its global presence and better serve resellers and customers in the region.
This marks a further commitment from CyberGuard to the growing network security market in Japan.
CyberGuard today also announced that its award-winning CyberGuard(tm) Firewall is now offered in the PC NT Solutions Mall, a collaboration between IBM Japan and Microsoft to provide an on-site technology showcase with a broad array of enterprise networking solutions. As a Value-added Solutions Provider, CyberGuard's Release 4 UNIX(R) Firewall is currently offered in the Solutions Mall as a bundled solution with the IBM PC Server. The new CyberGuard Firewall for Microsoft Windows(tm) NT is expected to be offered in the near future. Other vendors showcasing products include Lotus, Oracle, and various others including systems integrators.

CyberGuard's new regional office in Japan, located in Tokyo, is headed by Reiji Hasegawa, whose background includes a 20-year tenure with IBM Japan Ltd., and various executive positions with Borland and Apple Japan. The Company's Japan Office will provide sales, support and service for CyberGuard's growing base of channel partners in the region, and will facilitate getting the Company's new Firewall for Windows NT and eCommerce solutions into the channels.
