Toysoldier - Excellent we can Talk about Native IP!

First we know Novell has taken a very positive Step in supporting a "Pure" TCPIP internet standard protocol suite. I think it is a very positive development.

However - let me play devil's advocate :)

The Migration to Netware 5.0 will require "Compatibility Mode" and a "Gateway" between the old and new Netware. It will require any number of applications to be rewritten if they are to be "Pure" implementation of TCPIP.

Novell and MS are in the same game - Encapsulation.

Lets ponder this - What if this compatibility mode is slower then SPX/IPX alone! Very likely IMHO - so by upgrading to 5.X you could actually slow down your network because you have to support both protocol sets.

The Migration sounds messy and once again the installed base will drag it's feet unless the path is clear and concise...

I see this as a MAJOR issue that will conspire to freeze the market for upgrades until all the leaders (Gartner, Mags etc...) define a pathway and explain the issues for the masses....

Enjoyed your post (I am off today so I am surfing the net this morning)
