Company Press Release

Integrated Device Technology Announces Industry's First 3.3-Volt 1-Mbit
FIFOs

Company Continues to Lead FIFO Market Innovation While Maintaining Pin Compatibility in
Next-Generation 4-Mbit Devices and Beyond

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 23, 1998-- Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT), the industry's
leading supplier of First-In/First-Out (FIFO) memories, today introduced the industry's first 1-Mbit and 512K SuperSync(TM)
FIFOs available in 3.3 volts, and its intent to continue pin compatibility in 4-Mbit FIFOs and beyond. These high-density
3.3-volt, 1-Mbit and 512K FIFOs are ideal for networking, video and telecommunication applications, due to their ability to
buffer large amounts of data while sustaining high-speed operation. Unlike 5-volt FIFOs, which require additional conversion
logic for use in today's 3.3-volt system designs, the new IDT 1-Mbit SuperSync FIFOs can provide a direct point-to-point
interface between system microprocessors and ASIC devices operating at 3.3 volts.

''Our customers designing applications such as high-end routers and ATM switches demand a challenging mix of high
performance, bandwidth and capacity at a reasonable cost,'' said Jimmy Lee, IDT's vice president of FIFO products. ''We're
the first in the industry to provide 3.3-volt, 1-Mbit FIFOs, and at the lowest cost/bit, thus raising the bar in terms of price vs.
performance. Our strategy is to drive the density of FIFO memories to 4 Mbits and beyond without having to force a change in
form, fit and function onto the user. The SuperSync architecture is the best platform for us to accomplish that goal.''

High-density, high-speed FIFO memories are ideal solutions for buffering tasks in high-speed packet or cell-based switching
systems such as gigabit ethernet routers and ATM switches. FIFOs can be used to hold packets as they wait for access to the
switch fabric or as they wait for access to an output line card, thus reducing packet loss and improving quality of service to
end-users.

Developed as depth extensions of IDT's popular SuperSync family, first introduced in 1992, the 1-Mbit IDT72V285 (64K x
18) and IDT72V291 (128K x 9) both support the features and performance of legacy SuperSync FIFOs. In addition, IDT has
improved the product by reducing first-word latency by a factor of ten. By maintaining the SuperSync pin-out, IDT has created
a seamless roadmap for FIFOs that offers the lowest cost/bit in the industry, while delivering the popular SuperSync functions
such as first-word fall-through mode, partial reset, serial loading of flag offsets, and register buffered flag outputs. These
features, which are unique to the SuperSync architecture and definition, have enabled users to implement more flexible designs
and have greatly simplified firmware development.

Also available are 3.3-volt versions of 512K density FIFOs in x18 and x9 configurations, as well as 5.0-volt versions for use in
system designs where a 3.3-volt specification is not a primary requirement. The 5.0-volt versions are offered in single-package
configurable organizations and achieve 6.5 ns access times, enabling true 100-MHz system designs. The new offerings are
listed below:

Part Number Density Configuration Vcc Speed Access
Grade Times

IDT72V291 1 Mbit 128Kx9 3.3 15 ns 10 ns
IDT72V285 1 Mbit 64Kx18 3.3 15 ns 10 ns
IDT72V281 512K 64Kx9 3.3 15 ns 10 ns
IDT72V275 512K 32Kx18 3.3 15 ns 10 ns
IDT72294 1 Mbit 128Kx9/64Kx18 5.0 10 ns 6.5 ns
IDT72284 512K 64Kx9/32Kx18 5.0 10 ns 6.5 ns

Packaging, Pricing and Availability

IDT's 3.3-volt SuperSync 1-Mbit IDT72V285/V291 FIFOs are priced at $49.50 in 10,000-piece quantities and the 512K
SuperSync IDT72V275/V281 FIFOs are priced at $38 in 10,000-piece quantities. All devices are available in either 64-pin
STQFP or TQFP packages. Samples are available in April with volume production following in June of this year. SuperSync
3.3-volt FIFOs of 2- and 4-Mbit densities are planned for release later this year.

IDT's FIFO Commitment

As the market and volume production leader for all FIFO products, IDT offers more than 100 FIFO solutions to suit a broad
range of applications. IDT continues to strengthen its leadership position in the FIFO market, both through ongoing product
improvements and also by introducing innovative new products that address customer needs. IDT's innovative asynchronous,
synchronous and specialty FIFO architectures were the first to hit the market and have since captured more than 60 percent of
the FIFO market.
