If you apply the rule of thumb thought to the Vancouver Exchange, I agree. Stocks listed there are constantly promoted to US investors and in turn, fallen by the wayside.

The other three Canadian exchanges are not to be ignored or looked down upon. The Toronto and Montreal Exchanges are first class acts. I am an Oil & Gas Investor, therefore I like to invest into the smaller public companies also listed on the Alberta Exchange. I relate the Vancouver Exchange to the OTC BB stocks in the U.S. People get caught up in the hype and promotion that is a way of life there.

A better rule of thumb is to avoid promoted stocks period.

I live in New York State and have done well with investment in Canada.
