Ted,

Thanks for your input as always. If I remember right from your past posts, it seemed to me (my impression, please clarify if I'm in error) that you were not overly impressed with Vertex 2000. I kind of remember that the demo originally bombed because of a connection problem, and that you had a pre-conceived idea of how Mr. Bemer's use of "bigits" in the base code could work (which bore out from the demo, if I recall correctly).

Didn't you conclude that the use of Vertex 2000 would still require a significant man/iterative machine hour throughput to work as advertised? Wasn't this repair a mere stopgap measure to survive Y2k until all code could be migrated to a new platform (suffering a performance hit, as I recall)?

I'm only asking this (instead of looking it up from your past posts) because you mentioned in your last post that you have had subsequent conversations with Mr. Bemer since your original demo and I don't recall any posts of yours which references those discussions (or your conclusions).....

I have another question of you: Since you post on other Y2k threads, could you tell us who you are long/shorting in this arena? Since you are 49 and retired I will listen closely and add your opinion to the rest of my dd work........

Thanks for all your help and education on the technical side of Y2k....

Mark
