Janice-
Ed Willey was an old friend of Al Gore's.

Where did you get this info?

The Willeys had no contact with the Clintons until the 1992 campaign; and, it would
seem, they had very little contact afterwards, much as Kathy tried to paint herself as
a social friend.

So why is it that when she needed a paying job she went to Clinton, rather than to
her husband's old buddy? Normally when you need a favor, you'll do best with
someone who knows you well.

I think Kathleen Willey was a volunteer and had fundraisers in Richmond for then candidate Clinton, so Clinton would know her as an early supporter. Also, at this time, I think Al Gore wasn't even Clinton's running mate. If you personally knew the president of the United States, don't you think he could find you a job, or direct you to somebody who could (Vernon Jordan)?
