No, you are incorrect. The ability to run Windows apps was part of the JavaStation at least since October, 1996, when Sun hosted its satellite transmission public kickoff (which I attended). I have the handouts from that program in my hand, and they clearly state that the Javastation would allow access to Windows applications. At the time, the requisite connectivity was to be provided via Insignia's NTrigue. Citrix is a similar product, as I understand it. JMHO.
