I do think it has merit to make individuals distinct in some
way. My opinion is that it isn't necessary to restrict handles to do that.

No problem. I guess we agree then that Spots, Spots2, Spotts, Spots_, etc. all technically maintain individuality, yet still allow for similar self-expression... i.e. buyer beware.

Case closed?
