This message has been posted for Chris Rohrs, of The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. The Federal Reserve Bank has produced a document that is intended to help the small and medium businesses become aware of the Year 2000 problem and the potential risks, and to provide some guidelines in working on and resolving the problem. This document is available on the Internet. The address is frbsf.org, and click on Small Business and The Year 2000. The audience is the owners and/or managers of small and medium-sized businesses. This document explains what the Year 2000 problem is, the scope, and the potential risks to businesses and other organizations. It presents a suggested organizational approach to managing the problem, presents and explains a 5-step plan to resolving the problem, discusses testing techniques and issues, and discusses the date rollover problem with personal computers. It also provides the small and medium-sized business with some additional sources of information and help. We urge you to share this document with your business partners. You may want to talk with your purchasing department to enlist their help in getting copies to all of your suppliers. Remember, we are all in this together. While the name of the document is "Small Business and The Year2000," local governments, utilities and other organizations may also benefit from reviewing it. Thankyou,
