3/23/98 - Dominion Bridge, American Eco End Negotiations On Potential Loan and Acquisition Transaction

MONTREAL (March 23) BUSINESS WIRE -March 23, 1998--Dominion Bridge Corporation (NASDAQ/NMS:DBCO;VSE:DMO.U) announced today that the Company and American Eco Corporation have agreed to end negotiations regarding a potential loan and acquisition transaction, as a result of American Eco's confirmation of its inability to consummate the transaction due to its complexity. Dominion Bridge concurrently announced that it will now proceed with the completion of a previously-announced private placement with a strategic investor.

Dominion Bridge was established in 1879. The company is active in the international engineering and infrastructure markets. It manages projects and operates facilities in North and South America, Europe and the Asia Pacific.

Dominion Bridge Corporation's subsidiaries are Dominion Bridge, Inc., Steen Becker, Inc. and Davie Industries. Its Australian subsidiary, McConnell Dowell Corporation, is a major Asia Pacific engineering firm.
