Bunty, I am transportation engineer and work in the intelligent transportaiton systems area. One of the topics I considered for my dissertation has to do with GPS. So, I can talk quite a bit about the potential or lack there of for GPS. The GPS market at the consumer end will, at best, be a niche market - IMHO. They talk about putting a GPS device in each car for navigational purposes and the fact is that no one would like to keep one because of privacy concerns. Rental cars, commercial vehicles and military vehicles - yes! When I am driving in an unfamiliar territory, I personally prefer a map by my side than a GPS driven route guidance systems. Some of my fellow traffic engineers may disagree with my asessment. Any how, the relevance here is that GPS does not have the mass market appeal you would like to see. And, that is not the strength of STII I am counting on. I am currently long on Cognos (COGNF), Citrix (CTXS), STII, Tyco Toys (TTI), Lucent, Loral and a couple of small speculative stocks GENZL and ESCI. My largest position is in Cognos and the second largest is in STII. Good luck! -Mohan PS: I was curious about your positions in CSCO and BAY - normally you want to buy the best or second best in an industry. You own no. 1 and no. 3 players. Any particular strategy? |
