I've said before that I don't think Jaz will totally replace hard drives. Not only for the reasons of economy which you mention, but because it just doesn't make much sense to boot most operating systems from a removable device.

I do see value for the Jaz in many industries, particularly graphics and music.

I also think they will have to get the price of media under a hundred bucks before Jaz really takes off. I still want one and so far have not been motivated to come up with the bucks for it.
