Reuters Data Trend, Dial Data are the only ones that will update MS6.5 data directory directly, containing upto 2000 symbols. All other vendors export only 255 symbols per directory. So if you have 2000 stocks to follow, you would need to create 9 directories with Quote Plus. Also Quote Plus will not correct for splits or volume changes in the MS6.5 directory, where as Reuters does it automatically. There are two solutions to this. 1. delete and re-export the data everyday. (slow but effective). 2. new improved way in QP2. You can test for gross errors with a scan or use MS's downloader. QP compares their data nightly and issues corrections the next day. Obviously all will have some errors.... Dial data is a joke. They don't support error checking or correction. I know chan likes reuters. I don't like the MS Downloader and BTW: MS won't let you do some FUNNYMENTAL analysis as you can when you use QP as a data source. As for new features versus solving problems, I think you will be very surprised. Remeber you have only EQUIS to thank for the lack of support for the METASTOCK 6.0 data format. If you don't know what I am talking about, look back about 1500 posts and you can read all the gorry detail of the 255/2000 issue you'd care to read. Their format is old, slow, and not very compact. Other vendors have much better data formats but you won't find them supported in MS. GET does a great job with MS and other data. In GET you can take 30 MS dirs and they all appear logically as one big list. MS's entire data management concept is crude and outdated.... *But that will still not take care of problems just add new features.* Not a very accurate statement.
