I have very little comfort with the Zenit-2 launches, to tell you the truth. I will be quite nervous. This is based solely on the lack of any confidence in the Russian space agency. Now, beyond my gut feeling is a knowledge of the lengths that SS/L will go to in ensuring a successful launch. There is one Zenit-2 launch scheduled before G*(there are supposed to be 2, but I have only seen one scheduled). This is listed at the end of April for the launch of a Russian sat. I am quite interested in whether it goes up on time, and whether it is successful. In my research, the launch record was poor compared to the Delta, but there have been constant upgrades to all systems. I do not know the exact success rate of the present configuration, only that it failed last May(?)-- I have seen no explanation of this failure. This will become a more pressing issue as the launch date nears. I will keep my ears open.

On the Chinese side, these are for GEO launches that will occur in the future, even past 2000. The deal really just says they will launch something, as yet undetermined. By that time, the Long March should be shaken out. These contracts always allow you to back out if there are failures of other launches.
