And, Tom, had each individual investor been involved in their own due dilligence (as did Caroline Bogart, Tod Pauley, etc.) and not have relied upon those to whom Rehtorik dispensed information (Rutheiser [SAC leader], Essary, etc.) do you honestly think the GIFS/IMXS scam would have happened?
I think not. Those who did their own due dilligence and went against the hype of Essary were labeled as crazies, doomsayers, thiefs, etc.
You mentioned that Essary approached you to head the SAC; I believe he was also the one who approached Rutheiser. Isn't this an interesting coincidence? He needed a vehicle to dispense information that was of his own choosing.
