Yep. DR1 (Developer Release 1). There are PPC and Intel versions, both were notably slow. The goal was to get *something* out the door so that developers could get a head start, not to release a fully optimized version. The final relase is supposed to be much, much, quicker. The Id developer knew that what he was playing with was not the final release. Given that he knows that DR1 is not a good representation of the final product, I'm surprised he commented on the speed at all.
