MediaX and MCA Records Inc. Agree on Exclusive Worldwide Distribution for the CD-ROM "On the Road with B.B. King"
March 24, 1998 08:29 AM

CULVER CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 24, 1998--MediaX Corp. MXMX Tuesday announced it has signed an exclusive worldwide agreement for distribution of the "On the Road with B.B. King" CD-ROM through MediaX's software distribution channels.

Originally produced by MediaX for MCA, "On the Road with B.B. King" has won several multimedia awards, including the very prestigious "Newmedia Invision Award" from Newmedia Magazine. MediaX is now distributing the CD-ROM through its well-established software distribution channels, while MCA continues to sell through its music channels.

MediaX has received initial orders from distributors Ingram Micro and SoftKat for mass-market retailers CompUSA and Computer City among others. MediaX has commenced with the first shipments.

The media reaction after the original release of the product was far-reaching and exceptional:

-- "If multimedia didn't already exist, it would have to be invented
to create the kind of living autobiography found on this
CD-ROM." -- PC Computing Rated 5 disks (highest rating)

-- "It's ironic but fitting -- the oldest style of American music
has made a bodacious case for new technology."
-- Entertainment Weekly

-- "'On the Road with B.B. King' is a provocative autobiographical
exploration of (King's) life, as well as a rich historical
database of 20th-century blues culture." -- Computer Life

-- "The interactive wealth of great music and stories told by King,
Rufus Thomas, Eric Clapton, Bobby Blue Band and other blues
giants combined with lovely graphic elements to make this a
winner." -- New Media Magazine Rating: "Awesome" (highest
rating)

-- "The imaginatively realized CD-ROM captures the breadth of King's
career and is a bus trip you won't mind taking." -- People

-- "Four-and-a-half Stars (out of five)." -- Multimedia World

Nancy Poertner, president of MediaX, stated: "We are very excited about this agreement with MCA.

"We believe, based on the very positive press and consumer reaction on the initial release of this CD-ROM, distribution of 'On the Road with B.B. King' through our software distribution channels will not only prove to be successful, but will also open the doors for additional cross marketing opportunities with the entertainment industry.

"We are delighted that we have found such a positive reaction from our software retail partners."
