ATMEL HONORED FOR GROWTH, PERFORMANCE
SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ Atmel Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML)
announced today that it has been named "The Growth Company of the Year"
by the National Association of Investors.
The award was presented to Atmel during the annual meeting of the
investors' association held recently in Orlando, Florida.
The National Association of Investors is a non-profit organization made
up of individual investors and investment clubs. Founded in 1951, the
association includes more than 26,000 clubs with a total of more than
500,000 investors. These investors represent about $60 billion in stock
ownership.
Atmel is the first semiconductor manufacturer to win the award in the 44
years that it has been presented. In previous years, the award was
presented to such companies as Cisco Systems, Compaq Computer, Wal-Mart
Stores and Home Depot.
Atmel was cited by the association "as an outstanding example of
'American Free Enterprise' as shown by its sales and earnings growth,
excellence of service, outstanding management and public and employee
relations."
In 1995 Atmel posted revenues of $634,241,000 with net income of $113,
693,000 or $1.16 per share. For the first nine months of 1996 the
Company's revenues totaled $789,176,000 with net income of $148,078,000
or $1.48 per share.
