The collapse of Cityscape's stock price will always remain a mystery, but I suspect there was a huge amount of selling pressure from margin sales, and from short-sellers. The company had issued floorless convertibles, and it's possible that the convertible holders themselves shorted the company into near oblivion.

In the case of a company such as AGTI, when it is impossible for most people to short it, I'm not sure what people's motivations are for intentionally slamming the stock. It could always be a competitor who hopes to make it harder for the company to sell its product, or raise new capital.

I actually bought my (very small) position in AGTI because the stock was mentioned by someone who has had success playing (and perhaps encouraging) "Pump and Dump" stocks, such as BAAT. I hoped for a quick "pump" on AGTI for a great percentage return, based on hype. I have seen a few press releases, and there seems to be a strong interest on the part of new investors, but nevertheless the stock is not taking off. I did not do the due diligence on this issue that I would do if I were making a large investment.

At least it sounds as though the company has actual products, and has a manager with strong experience. As to whether they can succeed in an environment that already has strong competition, I don't have a clue.
