Justin, do you have any insight as to the effect of Microsoft going with Verisign, Inc. with Outlook 98 per the announcment they made today? I noticed a reference to HP using their technology as well. How will this affect Diversinet?

VeriSign Promotes Secure Online Communications With Microsoft Outlook 98
New Support for S/MIME in Microsoft Outlook(TM) 98 Enables Use of VeriSign Digital IDs for Secure Email
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- VeriSign Inc. (Nasdaq: VRSN - news) announced today that VeriSign Digital IDs can now be used in conjunction with the built-in S/MIME capabilities of Microsoft Outlook 98 to enable the delivery of secure email. The newly available Microsoft Outlook 98 -- the premier messaging and collaboration client from Microsoft -- includes support for S/MIME for sending and receiving secure email and LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) for quickly and easily finding another person's Digital ID.

Digital IDs use today's strongest cryptographic techniques to provide a trusted means of authenticating the identity of each party in an electronic transaction. Using a Digital ID in an S/MIME application, the recipient of the message can verify that it was sent from the sender's email account and that it was not corrupted or altered -- a mission critical function when using the Internet for business. Additionally, S/MIME applications can use Digital IDs to encrypt messages, ensuring that only intended recipients can read it. To enable the security of S/MIME communications, Digital IDs authenticate identity, support non-repudiation, verify message and content integrity, and ensure privacy. With the adoption of the S/MIME specification, Microsoft Outlook 98 customers can also exchange secure messages with other parties using any S/MIME supported email application.

''Including support for S/MIME in Outlook 98 is in direct response to customer demand,'' said George Meng, group product manager for Microsoft Outlook. ''VeriSign Digital ID solutions help enable the Internet as a secure and reliable communications network when combined with the built-in S/MIME capabilities of Outlook 98.''

''We are pleased to respond to Microsoft and VeriSign customer needs to deliver secure business solutions for Outlook 98 customers with VeriSign OnSite, our enterprise solution,'' said Richard Yanowitch, vice president of marketing for VeriSign. ''With VeriSign's S/MIME enabled Digital IDs and Microsoft Outlook 98, we are building powerful Internet applications that provide for secure communications and promote confidence in conducting business online.''
