Alexa and I, elegant and worldly as we are, attempted to enforce a dress code initially on the beerswilling, velvet-Elvis loving group of belly-scratching menfolk you see schlepping around the thread in their undershirts. But one can only hold out for so long without one's spirit being crushed under the weight of Bud Lites and car engines. We retired our designer gowns and bought polyester pantsuits and vinyl bags. We resigned our positions on the Boards of the National Symphony and the Metropolitan and bought bus tickets to see Wayne Newton in Jersey with a stop en route at Graceland. We serve green beans and cream of mushroom soup casserole with potato chips sprinkled on top. And everyday Alexa teases her hair a little higher and my eyeshadow gets a little bluer. But don't let this discourage you!!! We support you in your efforts and applaud your cummerbunds. Though should you show up in a powderblue tux and ruffles, we'll know the end is near, and it's only a question of time before you too ask to be called jimbob-hild and tell us to put A-1 Sauce and Ripple Wine on the shopping list.
