I forget the whole details, but I remember that Garzarelli and some other bigwig/spokeswoman/crystal ball reader for the same big Wall Street firm were announcing quite opposite predictions for the market in the medium term. Very embarrassing for the firm. Neither would back off, so one had to be let go. Garzarelli's large salary might have been one factor in her departure.
I beleive that Garzarelli's model was saying that fair market value for the dow was around 6000 (when it was in perhaps the high 4000's). Her model is based on corporate profit growth, prevailing P/E ratios and prevailing interest rates.
I am not a big fan of hers, and I think she has since turned negative about 500 or more points ago (perhaps her short money has lost a few bucks). But on the issue over she was let go, it looks as if she was correct.
