Nortel, Nokia, my favorite Ericsson of Sweden. All three here in Texas, at the Telecom Corridor. Look out my window and I can see Nortel, 5-6 bldgs. Nokia is located at new cargo airport at Alliance.(Perots airport, you heard of them.) Ericsson, where I work has 32 bldgs in Richardson, TX. ERICY is worlds largest provider of telecom equipment. 100/k employees, 130 countries plus. Past 25 quarters have been very good to ERICY. Ericsson U.S. not doing too well in 1997. Placed 10th overall in profit of all countries w/ I think 2 billion in sales in U.S. For Ericsson/U.S.- Latin America is strongest market. For Ericsson worldwide, China is largest. Not much exposure to Asian market, but does fall when overall Asian economy goes south. Heaven help us when/if China sours. 2 for 1 split coming up at end of May, after Board in SE rubber stamps it. New CEO, former CEO, now Chairman of Board. Very well run company. Just had another convertible debentures offering for employees at end of last year. Placed 15k into it. Break even point after all fees..etc is 65 USD/per. Convertable at end of 5 years. After 65/share, rest is profit. Near 52 week high at 48(+),
Annualized return on stock: as of 09/30/97 last 12 months: 81% last 24 months: 38% last 36 months: 56% last 48 " 40% last 60 " 58%
Best thing Ericsson has for them is the global dominance and early beachead established overseas in many markets. Russia made the top 10 markets for Ericsson this year, #10, where they have been since Lenin's time. Leader is providing equipment/service in China, 40%(+) share of China market. Over 3000 employees in CN alone, with well established government connections. U.S. employees somewhere around 5000, mostly in TX, but manufacturing in Lynchburg, VA., and research facilities in Research Triangle area. Not a quick money maker/explosive stock for daytraders, but is very good long term investment. (Got 20% of my salary going in each year)
I am most willing to help DD any company in Dallas. It is the least I can do for Joe's courtesy and kindness. In my other stocks past, have lost almost all my money, from 13k down to now less than 1 k, listening to others, and traded in "dog stocks". No More. Thank goodness I found this site. Hope to be able to pay the $125 admission fee, as soon as RNTK spikes. Good luck to us all and if other info about ERICY desired, or other Dallas companies, let me know. I may be new, but am willing to work hard. Thanks, Mike. |
