To anyone interested,

I have been a follower of QCOM for a couple of years but have just joined SI.I have a few questions which I'm sure some of you have answers or thoughts to.

#1 How important is G* to Q? Aside from credibility, will there be lots of new contracts. Will the Q begin to win some of these very large systems contracts? Will G* create greater momentum for CDMA wireless systems worldwide, or are there no synergies? Will G* play any part in future standards discussions? Omnipoint seems to think global roaming is such a big issue they've staked their company on it. Will Q make money on the G* handsets, or will competition with ERICY on that front be too intense? How fast will the prices fall? Will anybody else be manufacturing G* handsets? Who will provide WLL handsets and infrastructure, local partners or the Q? How hip are analysts to all of these issues? Is the Q mispriced?
#2 Why are manufacturing margins so poor? Unless I'm missing something, it seems that without royalties Q would would not be making any money at all. This must be the reason the street is more cautious on the stock than might otherwise seem warranted. Is this simply growing pains, inexperience, learning curve etc.... And the 10bil question. Any thoughts on value of future royalties,30 countries building some sort of CDMA network, G*?
#3 Michael Murphy alleges in his new book that CDMA turns out to be more base station intensive than its proponents have previously claimed. I know this issue has already been addressed, however I'm wondering if anyone knows where one might get factual data.I have no technical expertise but this must be one of the crucial issues facing the Q. Why would an operator choose CDMA over the GSM steamroller if this were the case? Murphy also seems to think proprietary systems are inferior to open. Is this point moot because of the Q's broad array of partners?

Thanks in advance..DaveMG
