Hi All... let me try to help As for the cost to deploy Seattle, I do not know for sure and would not comment on it if I did... Lets make a distinction between Modems and Radios. We do not need ANY modems per sq mile, what we need ar the RADIOS, the modems cannot route the data and there for do not contribute to increasing the capacity of the network. I know you probably MEANT radios, but in an effort to clear up any confusion that may arise, I thought I would jump in. As for the density of radios ( or Network nodes if you prefer) we aim for 1/2 mile spacing. if there is a lot of foliage ,or a high amount of traffic, then maybe we go a little denser. If the terrain is wide open and flat ( not the case in Seattle, but true in Scotsbluff) then the spacing can ( most likely) be greater than 1/2 mile. I hope this helps a little... Back to listen mode... OH...the 14 month timeframe is about right... at least that is about what I remember... david david@metricom.com
