I know that it's coming from the MM's because I look for statements such as those and too often the exact opposite happens. Also, I read reports and books about this. These "reporters" often get some written statement from their source (MM or specialist ally). Brokers on the floor have heard specialsit say "just keep the price were it's at 'til I get back" kind of statements.
