Philipah,
I don't want to disappoint, so here goes...
Everybody, are you ready for this? The best way I can describe my experience with Speller, is to copy my fax cover I just sent to Investor's Digest. Just to set the stage, today I called ID to voice a few of our concerns re BCB specifically, and their analyst contributions in general. While I was preparing my fax to them (basically a copy of one of my recent responses to Flora re our concerns) - they don't have e-mail access - I received a call from Phil Speller. I had earlier attempted to send him an e-mail voicing similar concerns, but my server failed and it did not get through. So, he had not yet read my e-mail, but based on our conversation, I seriously doubt it will ever be read - so why bother?
Anyway, here is my fax cover message to John Chaplin at ID:
"Re: Investors Digest's Credibility
John,
Obviously, I rang a few bells. As I was compiling the following three pages for you, Phil Speller called me. I can't tell you how disgusted I am with this phone call!
First, he called me COLLECT! Then he claimed I called him, but upon questioning, he admitted he heard I had only called Investors Digest.
He then commenced with a long diatribe of investment gobbidly-gook parlance. When I finally was able to interject with some succinct questions re his revised projections for BCB, if any, he wouldn't answer them. He went on and on re how difficult it was for small companies to get adequate financing. He finally admitted that his original projection of a stock price of $1.00 was still in the ball park - we would just have to wait longer (how long, I'm not sure). He continued with an incredibly long string of invective on people such as myself who frequent on-line discussion threads accusing us of being nothing more than speculators looking for insider information. Every single statement was peppered with, I'll be polite, colourful language.
Even when I did admit that these threads were prone to sometimes outrageous comments and accusations, but qualified this with the fact that most of us were honest investors looking for honest, timely and succinct feed back, he told me neither did he have the time to check such threads, nor did he even want my e-mail. At the same time, he claimed to be a people person, but would not listen to my concerns, told me he had no time for us, was totally insensitive to my sensibilities, and would not let me get a word in edge-wise -
ALL ON MY DIME!!!
In my opinion, Mr. Speller is a rude, phony blow hard, and because of him, come resubscription time, Investors Digest just lost a subscriber!
