Albert,>>>Mary that is not nice to blame that one on AMD. AMD's PR has nothing to do with that headline....get your story straight<<<

I got my story from Yahoo's finance PRNewswire section. The story from Money Talks was placed in Yahoo Finance PRNewswire by AMD. I don't have a problem with that. Do you?

Money Talks: Is Advanced Micro Devices Eating Intel's Lunch?
NEW YORK, March 23 /PRNewswire/ --<<<

Obviously AMD thought it was a favorable article and wanted to spread the word.

But, I do question some misleading statements:

>>>And AMD is a minor player to be sure. AMD sales in 1997 were $2.4 billion. AMD's $736 million debt equals 25% of capital and the dollar sum is close to Intel's. <<<

The comparison is disingenuous. He fails to mention that Intel has $13.9B in retained earnings on the balance sheet. I think that is material when talking about long term debt.

The title of the article,"Is Advanced Micro Devices Eating Intel's Lunch?" is also misleading.

The closest that he comes to answering that question is when he states:

>>>Is it possible that in some small way, tiny AMD is moving into the dining room to feast on Intel's share of market? Yes, indeed. But the question is whether Advanced Micro Devices will earn fat profits as it does so.<<<<

That is not eating lunch. It is eating crumbs fallen off the lunch table. This is not balanced reporting. Sounds to me like he was influenced by AMD's PR department.

Regards,

Mary
