i love how these companies are manipulating investors to ignore the bottom line putting spin on their numbers. coms came out awful numbers but their inventory model is in place but everthing else like relevant margins,sales,expenses and eps look awful. i mean they missed the street by 12 cents. then msft-let me see they beat estimates by 4 cents which is not a surprise, but, they management said this will be the high in eps and and per share eps are likely to fall from quarter to quarter for the rest of 1998. they management are also concerned because of the high pe ratio-and they have not purchased any shares this quarter in which you had the highest insider selling in the history of the company. but the stock should open up 4or 5 points higher. its crazy. i'm a long term bull as i have stated but we IMO setting up for a timewhen the market-probably when i'm long-and will hurt this bull marke badly . we need a nice little correction and if the market keeps going higher as eps are getting worse it will end ugly. on with microsoft on the conference call i got the impression that the management was trying to talk down the stock-key words-high end we will see-eps should drop sequentially for 1998, high pe-no buyback-but hey its a market and the stock should fly tomorrow. go figure. even though we are flying i'm seeing pressure in semi's -micron,klac,klic, egls,have come under pressure. its a wierd market today. maybe eps, margins, growth don't matter at this time? wrong, it will come back and bite hard.
