A few questions:
What do the MM's do if there isn't anyone buying at the price they want to set for a stock?
What if nobody's selling at the price they want to buy at?
If "earnings are just a tool to manipulate prices," how do MM's manipulate the earnings? If they're short on a stock do they simply prevent the company from making a profit? Do they control how much the companies make?
If P/E's don't make any difference to stock prices, then why would it matter what the P/E is when IOM is trading on NYSE?
Also, what are the MM's going to do when Iomega moves to the big board? How are they going to make money then?
Do the MM's control the price of every one of the thousands of issues on all the exchanges? If so, how do they have the time? Or is it just their few favorite stocks we need to beware of?

Of course, I can anticipate your answers to these questions. And yes, I do understand the herd mentality, and I agree that herds CAN be manipulated.
What I don't believe is that all the MMs are pulling in the same direction on ANY single stock. I think they have contrary positions, and sometimes their attempts at manipulation work better than other times. And I believe that the enormous complexity of the stock market and the very large numbers of players in it make it impossible for any small group to completely "RIG" it.
Brian Lempel, I'm sorry to see you are getting sucked in by bull and NoName, two of the most manipulative, unprincipled, and ridiculous wastes of time on this board. (Well, bull says something useful once every ten thousand posts or so.)
Just one man's opinion.
