We don't use cookies on SI. The disappearing panel phenomenon is one that showed up in Explorer 3.0...is that the browser you are using? If so, upgrading to 4.0 will fix it. Where are you logging in from? You need to start at the main homepage and click "Member Login" If you bookmark the page immediately after logging in, it should work properly with most browsers.
