Pat, I understand your thinking.

But let's take a walk back in time:

Franks initial intent was to create a vertical operation. One hand feeds the other, on up the chain. Much like the Bennleton factories supplying the retail outlets.

In this case you have FNET spun out from FTEL. Read back in the press releases and you will see reference to the contractual obligaion. As a spin-off it is a legally separate entity. Just that this one comes with obligations in place.

Now think of FNET as a public company running under its own management?

Not good enough. How about if they were bought out and still used Franklin's DVG's.

When you look in your wallet, do you identify where each bill came from? Is that $20 bill on top worth any less then the one on the bottom?

If Company A is producing its own revenues and profits via services, and Company B is producing its revenue and profits via hardware sales, and Company B has a stake in Company A, do the profits compound in Company B?

General Motors owns Hughes. General Motors is a client of Hughes. Each have their own symbol, each have their own customers, and their own balance sheet, and earnings report. Yet GM's report breaks out Hughes contribution to the bottom line.

Does the street pay attention?

Bottom line is the bottom line, as this is the bottom line. rb
