I just transferred out of PrefTech, after 6 mos., mostly because of slow confirmations. I learned to place orders out of the money, wait 60 sec. or so (forever!) for the confirmation, then I could modify the order when I was ready to get it into play. Particularly useful strategy when shorting, they call around to locate shares when you place a short, a really long wait! Extremely frustrating if you are trying to move fast. I had a fiasco the other day, where I canceled an order, it disappeared from my screen (normal so far!)then my ISP dropped and I reconnected and re-placed the order. It executes and I find I got double filled, the cancel didn't go through. I 'm not blaming them, but the window didn't update, I didn't get the pop up screen that the order filled, and the status screen on the bottom didn't show any activity, even after I hit update. So, I'm out of there, had other problems with the software in the past which also cost me money. Now I'm up to an ISDN and Realtick 3, we'll see how that works. (They were an improvement over Datek, BTW.)
