Ignacio, let's take this one step at a time as you said. I think that current life on Mars is highly probable because it has much more ice than the moon. There is also evidence of flooding. I believe it is highly probable that some of that water found it's way deep underground through fissures, just as on Earth. Liquid water will be found using new techniques that the oil industry has developed. Again, if there is water, there will be life. In fact, I believe oil will be found on Mars!
