Christine, the post that I wrote was directed at the broad philosophical notion you described in your post. That the religios right are forcing their belief's on others.
I attempted (however feebly) to explain that it is not just the far religios right who are attempting to curtail freedoms in the name of morality, but the far left (free thinkers) who also have a specific ideology and belief system.
You will note that I never said you were a part of any group. I simply discussed the issue in a broad context. Christine, you spend allot of time discussing the evil's and negative implications of the far right or fundamental Christians. Yet, you never discuss the negativeness of the far left, or free thinkers?
Your mind is closed, because you see no negative implications to teaching children homosexuality is an "equally good lifestyle", The fact that it is not, just never enters your mind. The fact that homosexual men die needlessly by the thousands every year through the contraction of the aids virus, just doesn't matter to you. Why you would want to prevent children from smoking cigarettes because of their health risks, and yet not care about the health risks associated with aids, show's your unwillingness to look at the issue objectively.
What would your opinion be, if I said I wanted to create books and design curriculum to teach children that smokers should not be discriminated against? We should describe the positive effects of smoking only in this course? For the same reason you and most anybody would be against that, they should be against books which describe homosexuality as an equally good lifestyle.
Now, is it also wrong to teach bigotry toward homosexuals? Of course it is. But you cannot control the parents of every child in the country and what they may teach their own children. Nor would I want to. However the far left, (free thinkers) DO. You cannot mandate morality, any more than you can mandate that everyone become a Christian.
